Tidying rule in action: my 2 year old had an accident yesterday (not pee) and it got all over a cute handmade pillow. That thing went straight to the trash. I think most things in our house would be in the same boat. We also wonder what would happen if there was a catastrophe like spilling a half gallon of olive oil in the house, would we have to burn it down? Call FEMA?

If you spill a half gallon of olive oil I think it's law that you have just have move and start your life completely over.

Have you seen that "toy" that is just all about catching things to test your reflexes? It starts with 5-7 hanging small batons then drops them at random to sew if you can catch them. Reunion game? That should go well with 7 vodka sodas!

Living with animals is living with uninvited poop. But I am totally on board with your "poop test" weeding out system. It actually does make sense, and I recently used it as a method now that I think about it. Made the mistake of wearing my favorite (and not entirely inexpensive) house shoes to water my backyard plants. Stepped in a hunk of dog poop. Try half-heartedly to clean them, then said fuck it and threw them away.

My step daughter has been binging Ginny & Georgia and I often find myself having to go out of earshot because the fake southern accent just seems to hurt me in a way that I can't get past.

If you want to get rid of lots of home and personal items, just move abroad over an ocean.

Before that recent success, though, I was about to move abroad and got rid of most things (including my job) and then covid slapped that idea to the curb moments before happening. Do your research to get the timing right.

LOL the accent also drives Justin insane. As someone with no knowledge of accurate Southern accents, I just assumed it's normal. Did you get rid of anything in your overseas move that you wish you hadn't?

Hahah, definately not normal.

What do I wish I hadn't gotten rid of? Um everything. Hahah.

Actually, most of what I really miss I got rid of in the first attempt that failed due to covid. I got rid of some cold weather and backpacking gear that I wish I still had because 1) some of it I had for a long time and I was attached to it and it worked really well, and 2) it's expensive to replace, and 3) I now live in an even colder environment.

It's funny how a particular jacket can be so perfect for a specific weather condition but also contain all the memories from previous outings and campfires (waxed cotton winter jacket with a well earned patina 😥).

I still have most personal effects from high school and stuff stored in a basement in Tacoma. But I did get rid of my yearbooks from junior high as well as most of the yearbooks from my 13 years teaching in the classroom. So that kinda sucks.

Hopefully I can come to Washington next summer to retrieve some items.
